Stop Global Warming on the Road

Watch what you drive: It’s simple – stop driving your car so much. Take public transportation or a bike when you can. Another great way to go green is to buy a hybrid car. Can’t afford a hybrid car yet? Any car with good gas mileage will improve fuel efficiency and cut back on carbon dioxide emissions.

Save some fuel: Instead of letting your engine idle in drive-thrus, take a minute to park and go inside to improve fuel efficiency and cut down on emissions. Also, conserve gas (and stop global warming) in other ways: use cruise control on the highway for better gas mileage and fuel efficiency, avoid rapid breaking and acceleration, and seek out gas stations that offer ethanol-blend fuel.

Get a tune-up: If one percent of car owners would go green by getting regular tune-ups, we’d keep a billion pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. As a tuned-up driver, you’ll improve your fuel efficiency, easing the pain when you pay at the pump. Also, check your tires weekly to make sure they’re filled, and remember to inspect your air filter to make sure it’s clean.
